Postby BadDogAlliance » Sun May 20, 2012 8:37 am

I lot of people have been asking for help on how to use Oakaki I just want to get it all out of the way so I am going to show you some tips I use.
Topic Night mare pups
bluegreatdane12 wrote:May I ask how you colored the tails on the parents? I'm trying to make a litter my self and it's not letting me color the tail. Thanks for the help!

i am going to use one of my line arts so you can see it only the pups are not as big so I'll show you how to draw them as well

Basics
How you use a line art?
Image

Image
1.tools
2.Textures
3.Color
4.Swatches
5.Zoom save redo and undo
6.Brush size
7.Help bar
6.2.Layers (oops)

Adding

Say you want to draw a bow on the mother how do you do that?
Image

then draw what you want on the new layer
Image

Now you add an new layer over the line art but under the bow lines and color it in
Image[/URL]

This can be used for and thing you want to add Tails included

Drawing in Oekaki
Lets make a kitty
first pick your forum
Image
When there click the new topic button then your start with a clear page
Image
First think i do is close the Textures box (see above) That way it is not in the way then I put it in floating mode
Floating mode
1.on the help bar under view click floating mode
2.click the max screen button
3.then your good to go
Sketch the base
1. add a layer over #1
I use red but use any color but black and I also use the pen tool it is better to cover it up with the pencil tool
Image
Next add an layer over that one(look above) and ink it with black or a darker color of what your going to use if you are making a line art I say go with black. Using the pencil tool it best but you can use the pen i you like.
Image
Image
Hide the 2nd layer
Image
then add another layer under the 3rd layer and add color
Image
and there we go that is how you make and color lines

I hope this helps want to ask me some thing just post it here or pm make sure it is oekaki related or chicken smoothie. Thanks

Shading
next take the pic you draw and add a new layer to it.
On that layer use the drop down and pick the one highlighted one
Image
This means that what ever color you add with just darken the layer under it
use gray to shade the pic the darker the gray the darker the shadow
Image
tip it is best to make the lines going one way away from the eye
So just a simple shading thing I hope this help a little

The drawing I made for this was just to show you how to use it so it is not great

Background

coming next time

Past code in the box and presto

Layer over view.
~Fioriinacqua~ asked for an overview of what each layer type dose.
Normal- is just a regally drawing canvas.
Multiply layers are layers where the color is darken by putting another color on top of the base colors. This is great for shading and shadows.
An add layer is a brightening of the other layers great for highlights
Screen is also a away to lighten with a smug
Lighten is a great way to show a light source.
Darken is a great shadow maker. It darkens a surface
Subtract makes a color one of its purest forums it also darkens and lightens and color
A dodge layer makes the whole layer as if you used the dodge tool>I don't use it a lot
A burn is like the dodge layer in that it is as if you used the tool on the whole pic. The burn tool makes pics vary bark but dose give a var vary cool smoke effect if the Opacity is lowered
A over lay puts color over a color under it
Hard light is a great way to make your pic look like it is well light like a sunny day
Soft light is used of darker drawings to make it look like a shadowy room or night
the other light layers are used for the same as the other two light layers
Most of the time you don't need to use these layers but it is still good to know what they do but it would be best if you mess with them and find out what works for you .

Actually I have a question. I was wondering if anyone could explain some of the layer options like overlay.
